Now that Anil is a 2nd year resident he's not on call as much and usually when he is on call he's the back up person. This has already enhanced all of our lives. We actually get to go places on the weekends. Last weekend was what seemed like our first weekend ever that we were not out of town and Anil was not on call. Saturday went to the Panther's fanfest with friends and Mala's buddy Breana, which was nothing to write home about (besides the company of course) but we got to ride the train to downtown, there was music, and a red slushy so Mala had a great time. There were zero meltdowns and Mala was pretty cooperative so Anil and I had a great time.
Sunday we headed to Lake Norman. One of Anil's faculty has a lake house and each year invites the residents over for the afternoon. Luckily some of Anil's co-residents have kids and luckily one of those kids is a sweet little 7 year old girl. The rest of the kids are boisterous little boys that Mala has no interest in. Mala and the little girl played for hours in the sand and water. So we are enjoying Anil's move up in the world to 2nd year.
